Synopsis

The book examines the history, demography and cultural identities of the population of the Thruso and Mna valleys of the historical parts of Georgia. (In the Truso we mean the actual Truso and Mna valleys including the village of Kobi). Based on rich historical and archival sources, as well as materials obtained as a result of the expedition the ethnic history of the population of Truso from ancient times to the beginning of the 13th century, the political and socio-economic situation of Truso from the 14th century to the beginning of the 19th century, records of European diplomats and travelers of the 18th - 19th centuries, "Theological Commission of Ossetia". " and "Society for the Restoration of Christianity in the Caucasus", archival materials of the Foundation of the Archdiocese of Georgia, peculiarities of Georgian-Ossetian cultural relations of the 19th-20th centuries and demographic processes according to chamber censuses and church records are analyzed, existing documents about the educational institutions of the first half of the 20th century in Truso. On the basis of the expedition, defensive and residential buildings of Truso, monuments of written culture, etc. were studied.. The work is accompanied by rich documentary material, part of which is known, the part enters scientific circulation for the first time and will provide great help to researchers interested in the history of Truso and Mni valleys, as well as in Georgia.
